Continuous heavy rainfall in Nepal has caused the water released from the Valmikinagar Gandak barrage to rise, reviving flood concerns across Bihar.

Continuous downpours in Nepal have led to a steady increase in the flow from the Valmikinagar Gandak barrage, prompting officials in Bihar to warn of a renewed flood threat. The barrage, which regulates water from the Gandak River, is discharging larger volumes as upstream catchments swell under the persistent rain. State disaster management authorities have issued an alert, urging districts along the Gandak basin to remain on high alert and to prepare evacuation plans where needed. Local administrations are intensifying river‑level monitoring and have deployed additional personnel to key points such as Muzaffarpur and West Champaran. Residents in low‑lying areas are being advised to keep emergency kits ready and to follow instructions from the district disaster officers.
