However, the same weather system continues to unleash heavy showers across a number of other states, including Karnataka, Kerala, Gujarat and parts of the northeastern region.
These widespread downpours have saturated soils in the Western Ghats, Nilgiri hills and other elevated terrains, prompting officials to issue heightened alerts for landslide hazards. Local disaster management agencies have urged residents in vulnerable hill districts to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel on steep roads, and cooperate with any evacuation orders.
Preliminary assessments indicate that the persistent rain could exacerbate existing erosion problems, especially in areas where deforestation and construction have weakened natural slopes.
