Intense monsoon rains have caused severe flooding across Nepal, resulting in loss of life and widespread displacement.

Heavy monsoon showers over the past days have swamped large parts of Nepal, turning rivers into torrents and inundating villages in the foothills and valleys. Local authorities reported that the sudden rise in water levels forced residents to abandon their homes and seek shelter in temporary relief camps. Rescue teams, including the Nepalese army and civilian volunteers, are conducting search‑and‑rescue operations, while the government has appealed for donations and assistance from neighbouring countries.

The flooding has disrupted transport networks, with several road bridges collapsed and key highways rendered impassable. Power outages and communication breakdowns have further complicated relief efforts. Health officials warned of potential disease outbreaks as clean water supplies become scarce.

International aid agencies have begun mobilising resources, dispatching emergency kits and medical supplies to the most affected districts. The Nepalese Prime Minister urged citizens to remain vigilant, avoid flood‑prone zones, and cooperate with rescue personnel.

As the waters recede, authorities are assessing damage to infrastructure and agriculture, anticipating a prolonged recovery period for the communities hit hardest by the disaster.
