Heavy Downpour Swamps Panna's Brijpur Area, Roads Closed and Villages Cut Off

Torrential rain in Panna's Brijpur region caused the Dharampur drain to overflow, flooding homes, blocking a bridge and cutting off Umri village, prompting the SDERF rescue team to be deployed.
Heavy rain lashed the Brijpur area of Panna district in Madhya Pradesh, turning local drains into torrents. The Dharampur drain swelled beyond its banks and surged over a bridge, rendering the road impassable.
The sudden surge forced water into nearby houses, creating immediate hazards for residents. The overflow also cut off the only access route to Umri village, isolating the community until relief could arrive.
State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) teams were dispatched to the affected zones. Rescue personnel are working to evacuate families from flooded homes, provide temporary shelter, and restore connectivity to the stranded village.
Local authorities have warned that further downpours could exacerbate the situation and have urged people to avoid the flooded stretches until the water recedes and the bridge is cleared.
