The Hyderabad High Court has asked the Andhra Pradesh government to confirm whether the joint Google‑Adani data centre project has obtained all required legal and environmental approvals.

The Hyderabad High Court issued a directive to the Andhra Pradesh administration to examine the status of statutory and environmental clearances for the data centre being built by a partnership between Google and Adani Group. The court’s order seeks a formal verification that the project complies with all applicable laws before it proceeds further.

The data centre, part of Google’s broader cloud expansion in India, is being developed in collaboration with the Adani Group, a major infrastructure conglomerate. The facility is expected to bolster digital infrastructure in the region, supporting both domestic and international cloud services.

State officials are now tasked with reviewing the documentation related to land use, environmental impact assessments, and other regulatory approvals. The outcome will determine whether the project can continue without legal impediments, reflecting the judiciary’s role in ensuring compliance with India’s environmental and land‑use statutes.

If any deficiencies are identified, the government may be required to seek additional clearances or impose corrective measures, underscoring the importance of adhering to procedural safeguards for large‑scale technology projects.
