Haryana to enact law granting job security to university guest faculty

The state government of Haryana said it will draft a new law aimed at giving guest faculty in its universities the same job security as regular staff. Currently, many part‑time and contract lecturers work on short‑term appointments without assurance of continued employment. The proposed legislation will set criteria for converting eligible guest faculty into permanent positions after a specified period of service. Officials indicated that the move is intended to improve the quality of higher education by retaining experienced teachers and reducing turnover. The bill is expected to be presented in the state assembly later this year.
