Police in Haryana announced that a monkey responsible for biting over a dozen residents had been apprehended after a ten‑day search. The animal had caused injuries to several people, prompting a coordinated effort by local authorities.
A reward of ₹51,000 was offered to anyone who could help locate and capture the creature. The bounty attracted volunteers and wildlife experts, who worked with the police to track the monkey’s movements.
The captured monkey was taken to a wildlife rehabilitation center for assessment and possible release once it is deemed safe for the public. Authorities urged residents to remain cautious around stray animals and to report any suspicious activity.
The incident highlights the growing concern over human‑animal conflicts in rural Haryana, where encroachment into natural habitats has increased encounters with wildlife.
Officials said the operation was a success and that similar measures would be taken to prevent future incidents.
