Vehicles in the Haryana National Capital Region will be denied fuel if they lack a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate, starting today.

The state government has rolled out a new regulation in the National Capital Region of Haryana, prohibiting fuel stations from dispensing petrol or diesel to vehicles that do not possess a valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate. The rule, effective from today, aims to curb air pollution by ensuring that only compliant vehicles are allowed to refuel.

Under the directive, fuel pumps across the NCR will be required to verify the PUC status before completing a transaction. Vehicles lacking the certificate will be denied fuel and directed to obtain the necessary documentation before refueling.

Transport officials say the enforcement will be monitored by local authorities, with penalties for fuel stations that fail to comply. The move follows similar initiatives in other states to strengthen environmental standards.

The policy is expected to reduce the number of non‑compliant vehicles on the roads, contributing to cleaner air in the region.
