Haryana’s GST receipts jumped 29% in the first five months of the fiscal year, the highest growth rate among Indian states, according to official data.

The Haryana state finance department reported a 29% increase in Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections for the first five months of the current fiscal year, outpacing every other state in India.

Compared with the same period last year, the surge reflects stronger tax compliance and a rebound in commercial activity across the state’s industrial and services sectors.

The growth propelled Haryana to the top of the national GST performance chart, a position it has not held in recent years. Officials said the rise will bolster the state’s fiscal capacity to fund development projects and welfare schemes.

While other states recorded modest or flat GST growth, Haryana’s performance underscores the effectiveness of recent measures aimed at widening the tax base and improving collection mechanisms.
