The Haryana government has launched a digital traffic enforcement system that lets motorists contest a fine within 45 days.
The state of Haryana has rolled out a new digital traffic enforcement platform aimed at streamlining the issuance and contestation of traffic fines. Under the scheme, traffic cameras and sensors capture violations and automatically generate electronic challans that are sent to the vehicle owner's registered address.
Motorists can now log onto a dedicated online portal to view the details of any challan and file an appeal within a 45‑day window. The system records the date of issuance, the nature of the violation, and provides a digital form for submitting objections, eliminating the need for physical visits to police stations.
State Transport Department officials said the initiative is part of Haryana's broader push toward smart‑city infrastructure and is expected to reduce manual processing time, improve transparency, and curb revenue leakage. They also indicated that data from the platform will help authorities identify high‑risk zones and plan targeted enforcement.
Early feedback from commuters suggests that the online mechanism is convenient, though officials have urged users to keep their vehicle registration details up to date to avoid missed notifications.
