The Haryana chief minister has directed that the state's aging water supply structures, which blend groundwater, be concretised to improve durability and service.

In a recent statement, the chief minister of Haryana announced that the state will concretise its old waterworks that currently mix groundwater with surface supplies. The directive targets infrastructure that has been in operation for decades and is showing signs of wear.
The government says the concrete reinforcement will strengthen the aging pipelines, curb leakages and provide a more reliable water supply to both rural and urban consumers. Officials highlighted that the move is part of a broader effort to modernise the state's water network amid rising demand.
The water resources department has been tasked with preparing detailed project plans, allocating the necessary budget and supervising the execution. Completion is expected within the next fiscal year, with regular progress reviews.
Funding for the initiative will come from the state's water sector budget, and authorities may seek additional support from central government schemes aimed at improving water security across the country.
