India finished seventh in the medal tally at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, with athletes from Haryana contributing 28% of the nation’s haul. In recognition of this achievement, the Haryana government has announced a total award of ₹14 crore for 24 athletes who secured medals.
The ₹14 crore will be distributed among the 24 recipients, covering a range of sports including athletics, wrestling, and badminton. The state’s sports department said the payout will help cover training costs, equipment and future participation fees.
This move follows Haryana’s long‑standing commitment to nurturing sporting talent, with the government regularly investing in coaching infrastructure and talent identification programmes.
