The Haryana government has cleared a Rs 37,000 crore transit plan that will extend metro service from Ballabgarh to Palwal and introduce the Namo Bharat rapid‑rail corridor linking Delhi‑NCR.

Haryana’s cabinet gave the green light to a massive Rs 37,000 crore transportation initiative aimed at strengthening connectivity in the National Capital Region. The plan includes extending the existing metro line from Ballabgarh to Palwal, creating a new rapid‑rail corridor dubbed “Namo Bharat” that will directly link key towns with Delhi.

The Ballabgarh‑Palwal stretch is expected to serve thousands of daily commuters, easing road congestion on the NH‑44 corridor. Officials say the project will be executed in phases, with detailed project reports and land‑acquisition processes already underway.

Funding will come from a mix of state allocations, central government support and private‑sector participation under public‑private partnership models. The government has set an ambitious timeline to commence construction by early next year, with the first operational segment targeted for 2027.

Transport experts view the initiative as a catalyst for regional economic growth, anticipating increased real‑estate activity and job creation along the corridor. The approval marks one of the largest infrastructure spends by any Indian state in recent years.

The project also aligns with the broader Delhi‑NCR master plan, aiming to create a seamless, multimodal transit network that reduces travel time and supports sustainable urban development.
