Haryana Aims to Lead Next Phase of Auto Sector with EVs, Batteries and R&D

The Haryana government announced plans to boost the state’s automotive ecosystem by focusing on electric vehicles, battery production and research‑development initiatives, said the industry minister.
The industry minister of Haryana said the state will chart a new course for its automobile sector by prioritising electric‑vehicle (EV) manufacturing, indigenous battery production and dedicated research and development (R&D) centres. The move is intended to position Haryana as a hub for next‑generation mobility solutions and to attract investment from both domestic and foreign players.
Key components of the strategy include setting up specialised EV assembly lines, offering incentives for battery‑cell factories, and establishing collaborative R&D labs with academic institutions and industry partners. The minister highlighted that these steps will create skilled jobs, reduce dependence on imported components and align the state with India’s broader clean‑energy goals.
While detailed policy measures are still being finalised, the government has indicated that tax breaks, subsidised land and streamlined clearances will be part of the support package. Officials expect the initiatives to generate a measurable increase in EV output within the next two to three years.
The announcement follows a national push for electric mobility, and Haryana hopes its proactive stance will capture a share of the growing market for electric cars, two‑wheelers and commercial vehicles.
