The Har Ghar Fibre broadband scheme in Goa’s Sanquelim and Bicholim is projected to finish within 270 days, according to officials.
The state government has announced that the Har Ghar Fibre broadband initiative in the towns of Sanquelim and Bicholim will be completed in 270 days. The timeline was disclosed by the department overseeing the project, which aims to provide high‑speed internet connectivity to every household in the two areas.
The rollout involves laying optical fiber cables across residential colonies, schools and public institutions, with the goal of bridging the digital divide in rural Goa. Contractors have begun trenching and cable‑pulling activities, and the schedule accounts for potential weather disruptions and logistical challenges.
Officials said the 270‑day target aligns with the broader national push for universal broadband under the Digital India programme. Once operational, the network is expected to boost online education, tele‑medicine and e‑commerce opportunities for local residents.
The project is being funded jointly by the central and state governments, with monitoring mechanisms in place to ensure adherence to quality standards and timelines. Residents have been urged to cooperate with the work teams to avoid delays.
