Residents in the northern half of Jodhpur have been without tap water for four consecutive days, prompting authorities to revise the distribution schedule; a planned three‑hour power outage is also scheduled for today.
The municipal water department confirmed that tap water has not reached the northern half of Jodhpur for the past four days, leaving thousands of households without a reliable supply. The interruption began after a routine maintenance operation encountered unexpected pipe failures, and the affected zones have been on standby for an alternative arrangement.
In response, city officials announced a revision of the water‑distribution timetable, shifting supply windows to earlier hours in an effort to balance limited flow across the affected areas. Engineers are working to repair the damaged mains, but the extent of the damage means that a full restoration could take several more days.
Alongside the water issue, the power utility scheduled a three‑hour load‑shedding period for today to accommodate maintenance on the city’s sub‑station. Residents have been advised to conserve electricity during the outage and to store water for essential uses.
Authorities have urged citizens to use water sparingly, prioritize drinking and cooking needs, and report any leaks or illegal connections that could further strain the limited supply. The municipal corporation will provide regular updates through its official channels.
