Composer‑actor GV Prakash Kumar confirmed he will lend his voice to the upcoming film Ramayana after receiving a call from music maestro A.R. Rahman.
Veteran composer and actor GV Prakash Kumar announced that he will sing for the upcoming mythological film Ramayana, a project scored by Oscar‑winning maestro A.R. Rahman. The news was disclosed in a brief interview where Kumar said he received a direct call from Rahman inviting him to contribute his vocals.
Kumar described the call as a turning point, noting that Rahman's personal outreach underscored the significance of the song within the film’s narrative. He added that collaborating with Rahman aligns with his long‑standing admiration for the maestro’s work.
Ramayana, slated for a 2025 release, is being marketed as a high‑budget retelling of the epic, featuring a star‑studded cast and extensive visual effects. Industry insiders expect the soundtrack to play a pivotal role in the film’s promotion, and Kumar’s involvement is seen as a boost to the musical lineup.
The singer‑composer, known for hits in Tamil cinema such as "Muthuchippi" and "Kadal Kuthiraigal", has previously worked with Rahman on a few background score sessions, but this marks his first full‑scale vocal contribution under the maestro’s direction.
