Director Gurmmeet Singh has disclosed that the visual style of the upcoming Mirzapur movie draws heavily from the classic Western, and clarified that the CBFC edits were a collaborative effort.
Gurmmeet Singh, the director of the Mirzapur film, revealed at a press event that the movie's aesthetic is inspired by the iconic 1966 Western, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
He explained that the director's team studied the film's use of color, framing, and pacing to create a gritty, rustic atmosphere that mirrors the lawless setting of Mirzapur.
On the issue of censorship, Singh said the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) cuts were made in a collaborative manner, with the board acknowledging the film as a piece of contemporary pop culture.
Singh added that while some scenes were trimmed, the core narrative and visual identity remain intact, and he thanked the CBFC for its constructive feedback.
