A night‑time shooting erupted at a pot trader’s residence in Nangal Kotli, Gurdaspur, after the seller was threatened with a demand for ₹5 million and a warning that his son would be killed.

A gunfire incident broke out last night at the house of a pot merchant in the Nangal Kotli neighbourhood of Gurdaspur, Punjab. According to local reports, armed men entered the premises and opened fire, causing panic among the residents.

Police sources said the attack was linked to an extortion demand of ₹5 million. The merchant had allegedly refused to pay the demanded amount, after which the assailants threatened to kill his son if the money was not handed over.

The local police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and launched an investigation. Officers are canvassing the area for witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. No casualties have been reported so far, but the incident has heightened security concerns in the locality.
