The Gujarat government has launched a ₹2.94 crore project to manage plastic waste at Nalsarovar lake, aiming to reduce pollution and promote recycling.
The state of Gujarat inaugurated a ₹2.94 crore plastic waste management project on Tuesday at Nalsarovar lake in Ahmedabad district. The initiative, part of the government’s environmental cleanup drive, will set up collection points, sorting facilities and a recycling unit to process discarded plastic. Officials say the scheme will divert thousands of tonnes of plastic from landfills and reduce the lake’s pollution levels. A spokesperson for the Gujarat Pollution Control Board highlighted the project’s role in creating green jobs and supporting the state’s sustainability goals.
