The state’s major reservoirs recorded a modest 3% increase in water storage after two consecutive days of moderate to heavy rainfall across Gujarat. Meteorological data showed that the rain, which began on Thursday night, persisted for about 48 hours, providing much‑needed relief to water‑stressed catchments.
Despite the rise, the combined storage of all major reservoirs remains 13% below the levels recorded at the same time last year, according to the Gujarat Water Resources Department. The shortfall underscores the lingering impact of the previous year’s below‑normal monsoon.
