Patna’s Mother Teresa High School director Dharmveer Kumar Rai was arrested on Tuesday by the cyber crime unit of Patan police in Gujarat. The arrest follows a probe that traced a massive online fraud totalling approximately ₹1.79 crore to the school official.
According to the police, a portion of the illicit proceeds – roughly ₹26 lakh – was found credited to Rai’s personal bank account. Investigators say the money was transferred after the fraud scheme was executed, prompting a forensic audit of his financial records.
The Patan cyber police have not disclosed further details about the modus operandi of the scam, but confirmed that the case is being treated as a serious cyber‑crime offence. Rai is currently in judicial custody and will appear before a court in Gujarat for further questioning.
