The Gujarat government has broadened its Chief Minister Fellowship scheme to address implementation gaps in state welfare programmes.

Gujarat has announced an expansion of its Chief Minister Fellowship programme, a talent‑driven initiative aimed at improving the on‑ground delivery of government schemes. The move seeks to plug identified gaps in implementation by deploying additional fellows across various departments and districts.

The fellowship, originally launched to bring fresh perspectives and technical expertise into the administration, will now cover a larger pool of candidates selected on the basis of academic merit and relevant experience. Participants will work under senior officials, assisting in monitoring, data analysis and field‑level problem solving.

State officials indicated that the broadened programme is expected to enhance the efficiency of flagship schemes such as health, education and rural development, ensuring benefits reach intended beneficiaries more effectively. The government plans to monitor outcomes through periodic reviews and incorporate lessons learned into future policy design.

By scaling up the fellowship, Gujarat aims to create a replicable model for other states seeking to modernise public service delivery through skilled human resources.
