The Gujarat government has removed 1,445 illegal structures from state-owned land, estimating the reclaimed value at around Rs 200 crore.

Gujarat authorities announced that a large‑scale operation has cleared 1,445 illegal encroachments from government‑owned plots across the state. The removal drive, carried out by the state land‑revenue department in coordination with local enforcement agencies, targets structures that were built without permission on public land.

Officials assessed the reclaimed area to be worth roughly Rs 200 crore, reflecting both the market value of the land and the potential revenue loss due to unauthorized occupation. The government said the action is part of a broader effort to regularise land use and protect public assets.

The department has urged residents to report any further illegal occupation and assured that similar sweeps will continue until all unauthorized structures are eliminated. No injuries or arrests were reported during the clearance.

The move has been welcomed by civic groups that argue illegal encroachments hinder development and strain municipal resources. The state plans to use the reclaimed land for infrastructure projects and public amenities.
