Governor Awards GI Certificates to Himachali Craft Artisans

The Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Sukhvinder Singh, presented Geographical Indication (GI) certificates to artisans working in traditional Himachali crafts during a ceremony held at the state capital. The certificates recognize the unique heritage and authenticity of crafts such as Pahari shawls, phulkari embroidery, and wooden carvings. The award aims to protect the crafts from imitation and boost the livelihoods of local artisans. The ceremony was attended by craft guild leaders, local officials and representatives from the Ministry of Textiles. The GI certification is expected to open new markets for the artisans and strengthen the cultural identity of Himachal Pradesh.
