The central government announced a new assistance scheme for the textile sector to be launched in the next three months, as manufacturers also press for a ₹10,000 GST concession.

The textile industry has formally appealed to the Union government for immediate support, citing a slowdown in orders and rising input costs. Industry bodies highlighted that without targeted relief, small and medium‑scale units could face cash‑flow stress.

In response, a senior ministry official confirmed that a dedicated scheme for the sector will be drafted and rolled out within the next three months. The programme is expected to combine credit incentives, technology upgradation grants and market‑access assistance aimed at reviving production capacity.

Alongside the scheme, manufacturers are pressing for a specific GST concession of ₹10,000, arguing that the relief would offset the tax burden on raw material purchases and improve competitiveness in export markets.

Officials indicated that the scheme’s details will be finalised after consultations with industry associations, and that the GST demand will be examined in parallel with broader fiscal measures for the manufacturing segment.
