New Delhi – The Union Health Ministry said it is intensifying its response to a noticeable rise in both vector‑borne and food‑borne diseases across the country. Officials highlighted that recent data indicate an upward trend in infections transmitted by insects and through contaminated food items, prompting a coordinated national effort.
The government’s plan focuses on expanding disease surveillance, bolstering laboratory testing capacity, and rolling out public‑awareness campaigns that advise citizens on preventive measures such as proper food handling and protection against mosquito bites. State health departments are being asked to align their local actions with these central directives.
