Government sets up new NIA courts in Rajasthan, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh for terror trials

New courts under the National Investigation Agency have been approved for three states – Rajasthan, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh – as part of a drive to fast‑track terrorism cases. The move aims to reduce the backlog of pending terror trials and ensure that verdicts are delivered more swiftly. Officials said the courts will operate under the existing NIA framework, handling cases that fall within the agency’s jurisdiction. By locating dedicated benches in these states, the government expects to improve coordination between investigative agencies and the judiciary, thereby enhancing the overall efficiency of the criminal justice system.
