The seasonal Darbar Move has concluded, and all government offices in Jammu are set to reopen today, officials said.
Jammu and Kashmir's administrative shift, known as the Darbar Move, has reached its final stage with the transfer of the secretariat back to Jammu. State officials confirmed that all government departments will resume work in the city from today, marking the end of a month‑long relocation period.
The reopening follows a coordinated effort to move files, personnel and equipment from Srinagar to Jammu, a process that began in early November. Authorities have assured the public that essential services, including passport issuance, land records and public grievance redressal, will be fully functional without interruption.
Citizens are advised to visit the respective offices during regular working hours and to expect normal processing times. The government has also set up temporary help desks to assist those who may have faced delays during the transition.
The Darbar Move, a tradition dating back to 1954, is undertaken every winter to ensure administrative continuity in the region's harsh climatic conditions. This year's schedule adhered to the usual timeline, with the final batch of files arriving in Jammu on Monday.
Local businesses anticipate a boost in activity as employees return to the city, and transport services are expected to see increased demand. The administration reiterated its commitment to maintaining seamless governance throughout the year.
