The Ministry of Education has begun converting textbooks for classes one to eight into digital format, with accompanying video lessons to be uploaded on the DIKSHA platform.

New Delhi – The Ministry of Education announced the start of a nationwide project to digitise textbooks for students from Grade I to Grade VIII. The initiative aims to create electronic versions of the current curriculum and make them accessible through the government’s DIKSHA learning platform.

Under the scheme, each textbook will be scanned, formatted and enriched with interactive video lessons that align with the syllabus. The videos, produced by subject‑matter experts, will be uploaded to DIKSHA in phases, beginning with core subjects such as Mathematics, Science and Hindi.

Officials said the digital resources are intended to support blended learning, especially in remote and underserved areas where physical textbooks may be scarce. By providing free, online access, the programme seeks to enhance learning outcomes and reduce the cost of educational materials for families across the country.
