The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the establishment of three additional Foreigners Regional Registration Offices in the states of Odisha, Nagaland and Tripura to strengthen immigration monitoring.

New Delhi – The Ministry of Home Affairs has moved to broaden the country's Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) network by sanctioning three new units in the eastern, northeastern and northeastern regions. The offices will be set up in Odisha, Nagaland and Tripura, bringing the total number of FRROs to a higher level of coverage across the nation.

The decision aims to streamline visa compliance, registration and monitoring of foreign nationals residing or traveling within these states. Officials said the additional centres will reduce processing delays for visa extensions, stay permits and other immigration-related services.

State governments have been asked to provide suitable premises and logistical support. The move is expected to enhance security oversight, especially in border‑sensitive areas of Nagaland and Tripura, while facilitating smoother administrative procedures for legitimate foreign visitors.

The Ministry will issue detailed operational guidelines in the coming weeks, and the new FRROs are slated to become functional by the end of the fiscal year.
