The Union government has unveiled a scheme to deliver home‑based assistance to elderly residents across the country.
New Delhi — The central government has approved a nationwide programme that will provide home‑based services to senior citizens, aiming to support the elderly who find it difficult to travel for routine health and welfare needs.
Trained caregivers will visit homes to assist with basic medical check‑ups, medication management, nutrition advice and daily living activities.
The scheme will be administered through the existing public health network and financed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Pilot projects will commence in select districts later this year, with full national rollout planned for the next financial year.
