Goa's Chief Minister unveiled a new renewable‑energy target that aims to see 21,200 rooftop solar installations operational by 2027. The initiative is part of the state's broader effort to increase clean‑energy generation and reduce reliance on conventional power sources.
The government plans to facilitate the rollout through incentives, streamlined approvals and partnerships with private installers. By encouraging households and commercial establishments to adopt solar panels, the scheme seeks to lower electricity costs for consumers while contributing to India's national climate commitments.
Officials indicated that the target will be monitored annually, with progress reports to be presented to the state cabinet. The move aligns with the central government's push for greater solar capacity and is expected to create jobs in the local solar industry.
