Goa's law enforcement agency has issued a formal directive to its investigating officers (IOs) to carry out identification tests whenever the situation calls for it. The order, circulated among senior police ranks, emphasizes that such tests should be employed to corroborate testimonies and link suspects to criminal incidents.
The instruction outlines that identification procedures—ranging from line‑ups to photographic comparisons—must be conducted in accordance with established protocols and only when deemed necessary by the investigating officer. Officers are also reminded to document the process meticulously to ensure admissibility in court.
