Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has appealed to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker to improve inter-state relations concerning the Mhadei river water sharing issue. He urged the speaker to facilitate dialogue between the two governments.

Goa CM Pramod Sawant made the appeal during a recent interaction, emphasizing the need for amicable relations over the Mhadei river matter. He pointed out that the ongoing disagreement has affected cooperation between the two states.

The Mhadei river, which flows through Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra, has been a long-standing point of contention between Goa and Karnataka regarding water allocation. Both states have approached tribunals and courts over the years to settle the dispute.

Sawant urged the Karnataka speaker to take proactive steps to restart talks and ensure that both states work towards a mutually acceptable solution, highlighting that cooperation is essential for regional development and the well-being of communities dependent on the river.
