The Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation announced a comprehensive fire‑safety audit of every industrial estate in the state to ensure compliance with safety norms.

Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has issued a directive to carry out fire‑safety audits across all industrial estates under its jurisdiction. The move aims to verify that existing fire‑prevention measures meet national safety standards and to identify gaps that could pose risks to workers and assets.
The audit will be conducted by qualified fire‑safety experts appointed by GIDC, who will inspect fire‑extinguishers, alarm systems, evacuation routes, and emergency response plans at each estate. Findings will be compiled into a report that will guide corrective actions and possible penalties for non‑compliance.
GIDC officials said the initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance industrial safety and attract further investment by assuring a secure operating environment. The audits are scheduled to begin next month and will cover both newly established and long‑standing estates throughout Gujarat.
Industry bodies have welcomed the step, noting that systematic safety checks can prevent accidents and reduce insurance costs. The corporation has urged estate managers to cooperate fully and to address any identified shortcomings promptly.
