Young cricketers from Uttar Pradesh, supported by their parents, staged a protest demanding that the state be allotted three teams in the Ranji Trophy.

Young cricketers belonging to the Gen Z cohort gathered with their parents to voice a collective demand for three separate Ranji Trophy teams representing Uttar Pradesh. The protest was organised as a direct appeal to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the state cricket association, seeking greater representation for the state's talent pool.

The participants argue that a single Uttar Pradesh team limits opportunities for emerging players, especially in a state with a large cricketing base. By securing three teams, they believe more youngsters will gain exposure to high‑level domestic cricket, which could strengthen the overall standard of Indian cricket.

As of now, no official response has been recorded from the BCCI or the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association. The protest underscores growing frustration among young athletes who feel their aspirations are constrained by the existing structure.
