Gates Foundation to Review Health Initiatives in Meghalaya, Aims to Scale Reforms

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has announced a comprehensive review of its health initiatives in the northeastern state of Meghalaya, aiming to scale up reforms that have shown promise in pilot projects. Meghalaya, which has struggled with limited healthcare infrastructure and high disease burden, has been a focus for the foundation’s rural health programs. The review will involve data collection from district health offices, interviews with local health workers, and analysis of program outcomes over the past three years. Findings are expected to guide the expansion of successful interventions, such as mobile health clinics and community health worker training, across the state’s 11 districts. The foundation plans to publish a detailed report by the end of the year and will collaborate with state health authorities to implement recommended changes.
