During Wildlife Week, the Gangotri administration unveiled a set of stringent measures aimed at strengthening wildlife protection in the region.
The Gangotri district administration used the platform of Wildlife Week to present a comprehensive plan for bolstering wildlife protection. Officials highlighted the need for tighter enforcement against poaching and illegal trade, and announced increased patrolling in forested zones.
The new guidelines also call for enhanced monitoring of critical habitats, stricter penalties for violations, and greater involvement of local communities in conservation activities. Training programmes for forest staff and awareness drives for residents are slated to begin within the next month.
Authorities said the measures are designed to safeguard the region's rich biodiversity, which includes several endangered species, and to align local efforts with national wildlife conservation goals. The administration will review the impact of the initiatives periodically and adjust strategies as needed.
