Rising waters of the Ganga have breached the danger threshold at multiple points in Patna, submerging the Diara area and prompting authorities to declare an alert.

The water level of the Ganga River in Patna has continued to rise, overtaking the red danger line at several locations. Similar conditions have been reported on the Punpun and Dardha streams, which are also flowing above the prescribed safety marks.

Four watercourses now encircle parts of the city, creating a ring of flood‑prone zones. The low‑lying Diara neighbourhood has already been inundated, and residents there are facing complete submergence of homes and streets.

State officials have placed the district in alert mode, mobilising rescue teams, sandbag supplies and emergency shelters. Continuous monitoring of river gauges is underway, and the administration has urged citizens to avoid non‑essential travel and to cooperate with evacuation directives.

Meteorological forecasts suggest that the water level could remain high for the next 48 hours, prompting a call for heightened vigilance across Patna and surrounding districts.
