Heavy rains have caused the Ganga to swell, flooding 13 districts of Bihar and displacing more than 2.7 million people, prompting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to tour relief camps.
The Ganga River rose sharply after continuous heavy rainfall, inundating low‑lying areas in 13 districts of Bihar. Official estimates put the number of people affected at over 27 lakh, many of whom have been forced to leave their homes.
State authorities have set up numerous relief camps to provide shelter, food and medical aid. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited several of these camps to assess the situation, interact with displaced families and oversee the distribution of essential supplies.
The administration has mobilised police, disaster response teams and the army to reinforce embankments and facilitate evacuation where needed. While relief operations are underway, officials warn that rising water levels could pose further challenges in the coming days.
