Police have taken into custody the chief conspirator of a gang that charged pilgrims ₹1,000 for a VIP darshan at Khatushyamji Temple in Sikar, while a hunt continues for seven fugitives.
Sikar police announced the arrest of the principal accused behind a scheme that offered "VIP" darshan at the Khatushyamji Temple for a fee of ₹1,000 per devotee. Investigators say the operation was run in collusion with private security guards who collected the money and facilitated the exclusive viewing.
The detained gang leader is expected to face charges related to cheating, illegal collection of money, and violation of temple regulations. Authorities have also launched a manhunt for seven other members of the network who remain at large.
The temple administration has condemned the exploitative practice, emphasizing that darshan is open to all devotees without any monetary barrier. The police have urged the public to report any similar incidents and assured that further action will be taken against those involved.
