The Saran district administration in Bihar has moved to alert mode following meteorological forecasts that predict intense rainfall in neighboring Nepal. Officials warn that the down‑stream flow could cause the Gandak River’s water level to rise sharply, posing a flood risk to low‑lying areas along its banks.
District officials have instructed all disaster‑management teams to complete preparedness measures within the next six hours. This includes positioning rescue boats, reinforcing embankments, and setting up temporary shelters for residents in vulnerable villages.
Residents of villages near the river have been advised to stay indoors, avoid crossing the water, and follow any evacuation orders issued by local authorities. Continuous monitoring of river levels will be carried out by the state’s water resources department in coordination with Nepal’s meteorological agency.
