Continuous monsoon showers over Nepal's Terai region have caused a rapid rise in water levels of several rivers that flow into northern Bihar. After the Bagmati River earlier breached its banks in Muzaffarpur, the Gandak River is now approaching the predefined danger threshold, prompting heightened alerts from state authorities.
In the Sahibganj district, three wards of Madhopur Hajari Panchayat are currently under water, with flood depths reported up to four feet. Residents have been forced to move to higher ground, and local schools are being used as temporary shelters.
