The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed a snack manufacturer in Ajmer to stop making its popular Wai Wai bhujia and has confiscated about 32,000 kg of the product pending further investigation.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a notice to a food processing unit in Ajmer, Rajasthan, ordering it to cease production of its Wai Wai bhujia brand. The regulatory body also seized roughly 32,000 kilograms of the snack from the company's premises as part of a compliance check.
According to the notice, the firm failed to meet certain safety and labeling standards mandated under the Food Safety and Standards Act. FSSAI officials have taken custody of the seized stock and will conduct laboratory tests to determine any violations.
The action comes amid a broader crackdown on snack manufacturers across the country to ensure that processed foods adhere to prescribed quality norms. The company has been asked to submit a corrective action plan within a stipulated timeframe before any further clearance can be granted.
