Freshers’ Day at GFGC Women’s College Welcomes New Students in Davangere
The Department of English at Government First Grade College for Women, Davangere, hosted “LITNOVA–2026 – Where Words Meet Imagination” on September 10, 2026, to welcome newly admitted students.
On 10 September 2026, the Department of English at Government First Grade College for Women in Davangere organised “LITNOVA–2026 – Where Words Meet Imagination”, a Freshers’ Day programme aimed at welcoming newly admitted students.
The event was compered by Varsha and Ishrath and opened with a prayer by Vilas Shree and Megha, followed by a welcome address from Hemalatha. Senior students shared their experiences, while faculty members delivered speeches. Dr. Bheemappa, Head of the Department of English, highlighted the importance of English language and literature in academic and personal development. Dr. Naresh, a faculty member of the college, encouraged students to develop self‑confidence, creativity and a positive attitude towards their academic journey.
Prof. Shivakumar, Head of the Department of Mathematics, and Dr. Naganagowda, Head of the Department of Economics, along with Prof. Govindaswamy, offered guidance and best wishes. Prof. Prabhu, Head of the Department of Physics, stressed the importance of discipline, hard work and good values. The faculty of the Department of English also urged students to cultivate greater interest and confidence in English language and literature. Dr. Naresh was felicitated for his valuable presence, guidance and contribution to the programme.
Principal Dr. Karibasappa delivered a presidential address, urging students to strive for excellence in their academic and personal lives. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Sameena Khanam, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, guests, faculty members and students. A group photo session was held for the students of the English/Literature stream. The event offered a warm and inspiring welcome, motivating the new cohort to pursue their academic journey with confidence, creativity and enthusiasm.
