Four Odisha Residents Missing After Nepal Floods, Two Rescued and Reached India

Heavy monsoon rains triggered flash floods across several districts of Nepal, causing widespread displacement and loss of life. Among the victims were four workers from Odisha who were travelling in the affected region. Local authorities in Nepal launched rescue operations, but the whereabouts of the four individuals remain unknown. Two of the Odisha nationals were located by rescue teams and escorted across the border, reaching the Indian side safely on Saturday. Odisha police have opened a missing persons case and are coordinating with Nepali officials to locate the remaining three individuals.

The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has been monitoring the situation and providing consular assistance to the families back home. Officials said that the two rescued persons are in stable condition and are being taken to a hospital in the bordering state of West Bengal for medical evaluation. The embassy is also facilitating communication between the families and the rescue agencies.

Authorities have warned that the ongoing monsoon could exacerbate the situation, urging residents in flood‑prone areas of both Nepal and neighboring Indian states to remain vigilant and follow official advisories.
