Police in Siwan’s Bhagwanpur market uncovered a cross‑district gang that sold a counterfeit gold crown as genuine, arresting four suspects and confiscating an 800‑gram replica.
Police operating in the Bhagwanpur Haat area of Siwan district intercepted a criminal network that was marketing a fake gold crown as a genuine artifact. The operation took place in the Hilsar Bageecha locality, where the gang had been luring buyers with promises of an authentic royal ornament.
During the raid, investigators recovered an 800‑gram replica of the crown, which had been presented to potential customers as solid gold. Four members of the gang were taken into custody, and the seized item is now being examined for forensic evidence.
Senior police officials said the bust highlights a growing trend of counterfeit luxury items being sold across state borders. They urged the public to verify the authenticity of such high‑value purchases and assured that further action will be taken against anyone involved in similar frauds.
