Former Ujjain RTO Inspector Sentenced to Jail, 6 Million Fine in Asset Disproportion Case

The Ujjain court sentenced former RTO inspector Sevaram to imprisonment and a 60 lakh fine after a 12‑year trial on charges of possessing assets beyond his known income.
Lokayukta police filed a charge sheet against former RTO inspector Sevaram on August 30, 2014, alleging that his assets far exceeded his legitimate earnings. The case proceeded through the courts for roughly twelve years before reaching a final verdict.
The Ujjain district court, after hearing arguments from both sides, sentenced Sevaram to a term of imprisonment and imposed a monetary penalty of six million rupees.
Special public prosecutor Manoj Pathak and Deputy Director of Prosecution Sanjay Meena represented the Lokayukta organization and were credited with presenting the case effectively, leading to the conviction.
