A former Rajasthan legislator, Atar Singh Bhadana, was assaulted in Bhaunda village of Bharatpur district amid a dispute over a crusher and mine access road, injuring his security guard Gagan Sharma.

Bharatpur district's Bhaunda village witnessed a violent incident on Tuesday when former MLA Atar Singh Bhadana was attacked. The assault occurred against the backdrop of a local dispute concerning the operation of a crusher and the road leading to a nearby mine.

According to the security guard accompanying Bhadana, Gagan Sharma, the assailants first cut the electricity supply before physically assaulting the former legislator. Sharma himself sustained injuries during the confrontation.

Local police have been informed and are investigating the incident as a criminal assault. No further details about the perpetrators or their motives have been released pending the investigation.

The incident underscores rising tensions in the region over mining-related infrastructure projects, which have previously sparked protests and legal challenges. Authorities have urged calm and promised swift action against those responsible for the attack.
